The Tidewater Winds Board of Directors appointed Denise Alsina-Mayo in  October 2011. She brings a wealth of experience in marketing, promotion and customer relations to the organization.
Denise has worked from 2000 -2013 as an interior designer and a  wholesaler/ importer in the international furniture industry attending several sales conferences both nationally and internationally primarily at the International Furniture Fairs of High Point, NC, New York, Dallas, TX, Los Angeles, Ca; Milan, Italy; London, G.B.; Guangzhou, China and Singapore. Her primary role was presenting furniture manufacturer’s latest designs, collections and developments to the markets of the United States in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Richmond and Miami. and assisting them to successfully market the products. Prior to the international experience, Ms. Alsina-Mayo spent 20 years in the domestic furniture markets and was the General Manager at Willis Wayside Furniture. She was also employed at The North Carolina Company and Haynes Furniture. She started her own design firm in 1981 and worked there for 8 years before delving into several management positions for larger organizations.
Ms. Alsina-Mayo was raised in New York City and graduated from The Academy of Mt. St. Ursula as well as studied at Fordham University. The arts were always an important part of the Alsina home and Denise attended the New York School of Music for 11 years and special summer programs with the Juilliard School for three years. Upon moving to the Virginia Beach area, Denise was music director at Brubaker Academy for a short time and continued her education in Interior Design and Architecture with Tidewater Community College before commencing with her own design business. Denise’s credits, dedication and accomplishments in the field of the arts and business is a great addition to the organization.
